MoSPI Unveils New Logo and Mascot
The new MoSPI logo underscores the importance of data in India’s development journey and reflects the Ministry’s commitment to enabling data-driven governance, transparency and inclusive progress. Drawing inspiration from India’s rich heritage and modern statistical science, the logo conveys the Ministry’s core message of “Data for Development”.
The Ashoka Chakra featured in the logo symbolises truth, transparency and good governance, while the Rupee symbol (Rs) at its centre highlights the critical role of statistics in economic planning, policy formulation and national growth. The incorporation of numbers and mathematical symbols represents contemporary data systems and the foundations of statistical science.
An upward growth bar in the design signifies progress and demonstrates how reliable data underpins sustainable economic growth. The colour palette of saffron, white, green and deep blue reflects India’s national values of growth, truth, sustainability, stability and knowledge, together reinforcing the credibility and trust associated with official statistics.
Alongside the new logo, MoSPI introduced its mascot, “?????????”, a friendly and citizen-centric character designed to make statistics more accessible, relatable and engaging for people across the country. The mascot embodies the Ministry’s values of accuracy, transparency and data-led governance, presenting statistical information in a manner that is easy for the general public to understand.
Portrayed as a trustworthy and intelligent figure, “?????????” will help explain complex statistical concepts through simple and visual storytelling. As the public-facing identity of MoSPI, the mascot will feature across national sample surveys, awareness drives, educational materials, digital platforms and public events. The initiative is aimed at encouraging wider public participation in National Statistical Office surveys and strengthening trust in official statistics through a consistent and recognisable visual presence.
