MP govt to adopt Gujarat model; replaces border transport check posts

The Madhya Pradesh transport department has decided to replace existing border check posts with 45 new checkpoints, adopting the Gujarat model to facilitate ease of doing business. This new arrangement will take effect from Monday, with mobile units in place for border transport operations until the checkpoints are fully established.

The border security checkpoints, spread across 26 districts, will operate following the Gujarat pattern. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has instructed officials in border districts to ensure the smooth implementation of the new system.

Officials stated that this new system aims to boost the revenue of the Transport Department and address complaints regarding the current border check posts. "This significant decision under the ease of doing business framework will initially set up 45 checkpoints in place of the existing check posts at districts on the state borders," officials said. Additionally, 211 home guards have been assigned to manage the new system. (Source: ET)
