MSME Minister Reviews Progress at IDEMI Mumbai Technology Centre

Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, visited the MSME Technology Centre at the Institute for Design of Electrical Measuring Instruments (IDEMI) in Mumbai on 3 July 2025.

During his visit, Shri Manjhi held a review meeting and undertook an extensive tour of the Centre. He received an overview of components developed for the Chandrayaan mission and visited the cutting-edge AR/VR laboratory. Presentations were also made on key government initiatives including the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) and the PM Vishwakarma scheme.

The Minister commended the overall performance and contributions of the MSME Technology Centre, IDEMI Mumbai. He offered valuable guidance to expand advanced technology services and training programmes beyond Mumbai and Maharashtra to benefit a broader base of MSMEs.

IDEMI has made significant progress by delivering essential services and support to MSMEs. It has developed advanced components such as cryogenic engine parts for ISRO, gauges for submarines, and robotic tools used in neurosurgery. The Centre also produces practical machines including soil testing equipment and silk reeling machines, supporting farmers and women entrepreneurs.

Equipped with facilities like CAD/CAM, automation, tool design, and robotics, IDEMI collaborates with premier organisations including the Indian Navy, BHEL, and GAIL to calibrate and maintain critical instruments. Through research and development partnerships with BARC, the Centre has created specialised tools for agricultural and medical applications. It also utilises 3D modelling, reverse engineering, and rapid prototyping to design and manufacture innovative tools.
