NALCO Launches IA91 Grade Aluminium Alloy Ingot

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, has launched a new IA91 grade aluminium alloy ingot. IA91 is described as a high performance silicon based casting alloy engineered to deliver an optimal balance of castability, mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. The introduction of IA91 expands the company portfolio of value added aluminium products for downstream industries.\n\nThe product was formally launched by Anil Kumar Singh, director (commercial), at NALCO's Kolkata Stockyard on 25 February 2026 in the presence of senior officials. It has been designed for advanced casting applications and is particularly suited to gravity die casting and low pressure die casting. Primary applications include the automotive sector, electrical and power equipment, industrial manufacturing and foundries. The alloy formulation emphasises silicon content to improve fluidity and to reduce porosity in castings.\n\nNALCO stated that IA91 will support efforts to enhance product performance and to broaden downstream offerings while meeting sectoral demand for specialised casting materials. The expanded portfolio is presented as part of a strategy to move beyond commodity aluminium and to offer value added solutions for customers. Company leadership conveyed congratulations to the production and marketing teams for delivering the new grade.\n\nThe launch was disclosed in a press release issued by the corporate communication department and has been posted on the company website. National Aluminium Company Limited will market IA91 through its existing sales channels and engage with industry partners to promote adoption across relevant manufacturing chains. Quality assurance protocols and metallurgical testing are in place to validate performance parameters before commercial deployment. The new ingot is expected to enable improved cast component quality and to support manufacturing efficiency in user industries.
