Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, reportedly spoke of enhancing bilateral cooperation and speeding up the implementation of various infrastructure projects during his discussions with China's Vice Premier, He Lifeng, in Beijing. It was also mentioned that the Communist Party leader requested support from China in expanding direct air services between several Chinese cities and Bhairahawa and Pokhara international airports. Paudel, who is leading the Nepalese delegation, is in Beijing to attend the "Global Sustainable Transport Forum," taking place from 25th to 26th September.

The two leaders are believed to have talked about advancing key infrastructure projects backed by China, such as the Kerung-Kathmandu railway, the Tokha-Chhahare tunnel, several road projects, the Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University, and Damak Industrial Park. Chinese leader He reportedly emphasised the importance of implementing these agreements to further strengthen bilateral relations and expressed a wish to fast-track development projects related to infrastructure, transport, and connectivity.

During his visit, Paudel is understood to have delivered a speech at the opening of the forum, where he highlighted the significance of building a sustainable and reliable transport system to enhance connectivity, economic growth, and quality of life. He reportedly stated that efficient transport infrastructure is crucial for a landlocked nation like Nepal, which has made significant strides in road expansion and the promotion of electric vehicles.

Paudel is expected to return to Nepal on Saturday, following his six-day trip.
