Netrasemi Launches Edge AI Chip A2000

Fabless semiconductor startup Netrasemi has launched its flagship Edge AI system-on-chip, A2000, after achieving successful silicon bring-up. Fabricated at TSMC’s 12 nm technology node, the chip is designed for on-device AI, smart vision, real-time video analytics and secure edge computing.

A2000 features Netrasemi’s in-house Neural Processing Unit, Vision Processing Unit, Image Signal Processor, crypto engines and other hardware acceleration IP cores. It also uses the company’s patented heterogeneous graph-stream parallel processing architecture.

The chip targets applications such as smart surveillance cameras, drones, robotics, intelligent video gateways, Edge AI boxes and industrial automation. Netrasemi is currently in talks with global OEMs for early sample access, joint R&D and co-development of commercial use cases.

The company said commercial production is expected to begin in 2027 at TSMC, Taiwan. Netrasemi has raised Rs 125 crore from investors including Unicorn India Ventures and Zoho.

The company has also received support under MeitY’s Semiconductor Design Linked Incentive and Design Infrastructure Support schemes. It was among the first four startups selected for Rs 15 crore DLI support in 2023.

Netrasemi is also developing the R1000 AI/ML MCU for IoT sensors in collaboration with College of Engineering Trivandrum, and an advanced Edge AI server chip, A4000, expected to be fabrication-ready by Q2 2027.
