The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is developing a Geographic Information System (GIS) based integrated digital platform to bring all civic assets under a single interface, enabling one-click access to work history, expenditure and maintenance records. The initiative will be presented to the Standing Committee before implementation, and work will begin after approval by the municipal commissioner. The NMC has indicated that citizens will eventually be able to access city level data through the platform.

The platform will map roads, drains, electric poles, playgrounds, swimming pools, water supply lines and stormwater and counter-gutter lines, as well as schools, offices and NMC properties. It will also include CCTV installations, cemeteries, ghats and parking spots to create a comprehensive municipal inventory. Departmental data will be organised in layers so senior officials can track an asset's complete record in real time. The NMC has said the layered format will support monitoring of expenditure and maintenance across departments.

The project is scheduled to be presented before the Standing Committee and, following approval by the municipal commissioner, the NMC will collect layer wise data from all departments to populate the platform. The deputy commissioner for the IT department, Milind Meshram, described the intention to map all information held at departmental level so officials can retrieve complete histories of works. Officials expect the platform to reduce time taken to locate records and to improve accountability in maintenance and expenditure.

Officials envisage the system improving planning, easing inter department coordination and supporting targeted maintenance. Once operational, the platform may be expanded to integrate service requests and to provide public dashboards showing city wide metrics. The NMC will establish protocols for data updates and access controls to ensure accuracy and security as the platform is rolled out.
