Norton Scan Claims Numerous High Risk Threats On Mac

A Norton Online Monitor quick scan report presented a list of detections after scanning commonly infected areas and startup items on a Mac. The report indicated 43 total items scanned and stated that total security risks detected were zero while also asserting the device was infected with 18 viruses requiring immediate action. The scan output repeatedly flagged multiple items as high risk, including numerous entries described as Trojan.Fakealert.356 and other Trojan and adware families.

Details in the output listed several named threats classified as high risk and noted activity indicating one threat action performed for each listed instance. The log included references to Trojan IRC/Backdor.Sd.FRV, Adware.Win32.Look2me.ab and Trojan.Qoologic, among others. The file listed many repeated instances of the same signature, a pattern that the report presented as evidence of pervasive infection.

The output urged immediate action and recommended renewal of the Norton subscription to keep the Mac protected, stating that an unprotected device was 93 per cent more vulnerable to malware. The report formatted risk levels as high or medium across entries and identified keylogger, trojan and scareware categories among medium risk detections. The presentation included interactive script elements and subscription prompts embedded alongside the scan results.

The file contained formatting and scripting markers and repeated alert lines that suggested the output resembled a simulated or promotional scan rather than a standard antivirus audit. The repeated listing of the same signature and the presence of subscription renewal calls indicated a mix of technical log entries and marketing prompts in the report. Readers were advised to verify scan results with official security tools and to consult vendor support rather than follow embedded prompts.
