Geological Survey of India (GSI), under the Ministry of Mines, will recently host the 65th Central Geological Programming Board (CGPB) meeting in New Delhi, bringing together stakeholders from central ministries, state governments, industry, academia and the mining sector to deliberate on national geoscientific priorities.

The meeting will be chaired by Piyush Goyal, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, in the presence of Asit Saha, Director General, GSI, and senior officials from the Ministry, PSUs and private exploration companies. The CGPB serves as GSI’s apex platform for finalising its Annual Field Season Programme, enabling coordinated survey, mapping, exploration, research and capacity-building activities while avoiding duplication of work.

Key deliberations will focus on exploration of critical minerals aligned with energy transition goals, adoption of advanced tools such as AI and remote sensing, collaborative exploration models, and geohazard studies including landslide zonation. GSI will also present its Annual Programme for FS 2026–27, covering 1,068 peer-reviewed projects with emphasis on critical minerals, sustainability and public-good geosciences, alongside the release of key publications and an exhibition on strategic mineral exploration.
