PM-JANMAN Abhiyan Launched for Holistic Development of PVTGs
The Abhiyan is being driven through 11 focused interventions coordinated by 9-line Ministries, with a total budgetary outlay of Rs 241.04 billion—of which Rs 153.36 billionis the Central share and Rs 87.68 billion the State share.
To ensure widespread awareness and engagement, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has undertaken extensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns in collaboration with State/UT governments. Two major national IEC campaigns were conducted:
15 December 2023 to 15 January 2024
23 August 2024 to 02 October 2024
These included events and activities at the national, state, and district levels, such as Aadhaar camps, for which financial support was extended under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘Support to Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs)’.
Additionally, the Ministry has been hosting Manthan Shivirs at the national level in partnership with other Ministries, State Tribal Welfare Departments, and District Collectors, to promote convergence and strengthen the programme's implementation. Regular review meetings and stakeholder consultations are also being held to ensure smooth and impactful delivery of PM-JANMAN’s goals.
The Abhiyan is poised to be a transformative initiative aimed at bridging development gaps and ensuring dignity, justice, and opportunity for India’s most marginalised tribal communities.
