Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced a two-day tour across Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects exceeding Rs 710 billion (approximately £6.7 billion). These initiatives span sectors such as healthcare, energy, transportation, and urban development, aiming to bolster infrastructure and economic growth in these regions.

Sikkim:

In Gangtok, PM Modi participated in the "Sikkim@50" celebrations, marking 50 years of the state's formation. He inaugurated multiple projects, including a 500-bed district hospital in Namchi valued at over Rs 7.5 billion (approximately £70 million), a passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling, and a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok.

West Bengal:

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. This Rs 10.1 billion (approximately £95 million) initiative aims to provide piped natural gas to over 250,000 households and establish 19 CNG stations, promoting clean energy and employment opportunities in the region.

Bihar:

In Patna, PM Modi inaugurated the new terminal building of Jayprakash Narayan International Airport, constructed at a cost of Rs 12 billion (approximately £113 million), enhancing the airport's capacity to handle up to 10 million passengers annually. He also laid the foundation stone for the new civil enclave at Bihta Airport, a project worth over Rs 14.1 billion (approximately £133 million).

On May 30, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects totaling over Rs 485.2 billion (approximately £4.6 billion) in Karakat, Bihar. Key among these is the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project Stage-II (3x800 MW) in Aurangabad district, valued at Rs 299.3 billion (approximately £2.8 billion), aimed at bolstering energy security and industrial growth in the region.

Uttar Pradesh:

In Kanpur, PM Modi will inaugurate the Chunniganj to Kanpur Central Metro section, a project costing over Rs 21.2 billion (approximately £200 million), featuring 14 stations, including five underground ones, to improve urban mobility. Additionally, he will lay foundation stones for various infrastructure projects, including road widening, power substations, and a 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project valued at over Rs 83 billion (approximately £780 million), to enhance the state's energy infrastructure.

These initiatives underscore the government's commitment to comprehensive regional development, focusing on infrastructure enhancement, energy security, and improved public services across multiple states.
