PM Modi unveils Rs 191 billion development boost in Uttar Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil development initiatives exceeding Rs 191 billion in Bulandshahr, located in western Uttar Pradesh, according to officials. During the ceremony, Modi will inaugurate a 173-km-long double-line electrified segment connecting New Khurja and New Rewari on the dedicated freight corridor (DFC). The event will include the flagging off of goods trains from both stations via video conferencing. The newly established DFC section is of significant importance as it establishes vital connectivity between the western and eastern freight corridors. Notably, this section features a groundbreaking engineering accomplishment ? a one-kilometre-long double-line rail tunnel with high-rise electrification, the first of its kind globally. This tunnel is specifically designed to facilitate the seamless operation of double-stack container trains.

The introduction of this DFC section is expected to enhance the efficiency of passenger trains by redirecting goods trains to the DFC track, officials noted. Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the fourth rail line connecting Mathura-Palwal and Chipiyana Buzurg-Dadri sections, along with several road development projects collectively valued at over Rs 50 billion. These road projects aim to enhance connectivity and foster economic development in the region.

Further, Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Indian Oil's Tundla-Gawaria pipeline and an "integrated industrial township at Greater Noida" (IITGN). Developed at a cost of Rs 17.14 billion, the IITGN project spans 747 acres and is strategically located near the intersection of the eastern and western dedicated freight corridors, with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to the south and the Delhi-Howrah broad gauge railway line to the east. The integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects under PM-GatiShakti align with the Prime Minister's vision.

The officials emphasised the strategic location of IITGN, highlighting its unparalleled connectivity due to the presence of other infrastructure for multi-modal connectivity in the vicinity. As the Lok Sabha polls are anticipated in April-May, these projects are expected to bolster the ruling BJP's pro-development image, particularly in the politically significant state of Uttar Pradesh.
