PM Modi unveils transformative projects for northeast development
Speaking at the event held at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati, Modi highlighted the diverse projects, such as upgrading the Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards and the construction of Unity Mall, as catalysts for employment generation in the tourism sector and opportunities for sporting talents. Major initiatives included the Kamakhya temple corridor (Rs 4.98 billion), a six-lane road from the new airport terminal in Guwahati (Rs 3.58 billion), and the upgradation of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards (Rs 8.31 billion).
Additionally, Modi launched the second phase of 'Asom Mala' roads, involving the upgrade and construction of 43 new roads with 38 concrete bridges, totalling an investment of Rs 34.44 billion. Foundation stones were laid for the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital's integrated new building (Rs 32.5 billion), Karimganj Medical College and Hospital (Rs 5.78 billion), and Unity Mall in Guwahati (Rs 2.97 billion).
Furthermore, the Prime Minister inaugurated the four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur (Rs 14.51 billion) and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri (Rs 5.92 billion).
