Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate Kartavya Bhavan at Kartavya Path, Delhi, on 6 August at approximately 12:15 PM. Later in the day, he is set to address a public programme at 6:30 PM.

The inauguration marks a major step in delivering the government’s vision of modern, efficient, and citizen-focused governance. Kartavya Bhavan – 03, the first of several upcoming Common Central Secretariat buildings under the Central Vista redevelopment, will streamline administrative operations and improve policy coordination.

By co-locating key ministries and embracing cutting-edge infrastructure, the project seeks to foster agile governance and reduce inefficiencies caused by dispersed operations. Ministries currently housed in ageing offices like Shastri Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, and Nirman Bhawan, constructed between the 1950s and 1970s, will transition to the new state-of-the-art facility.

Kartavya Bhavan – 03 spans 1.5 lakh square metres across two basements and seven levels, and will host the Ministries of Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the office of the Principal Scientific Adviser.

Designed for productivity and collaboration, the building integrates modern IT infrastructure, secure access systems, centralised surveillance, and smart facilities management. It is also a model for sustainability, aiming for a GRIHA-4 rating. Features include double-glazed façades, rooftop solar panels generating over 534,000 units annually, solar water heaters fulfilling over 25 per cent of hot water needs, energy-saving lighting, smart lifts, and sensors for efficient electricity use.

The campus is zero-discharge, treating and reusing wastewater, and equipped with solid waste processing and electric vehicle charging stations. It uses recycled construction waste and lightweight partitions to reduce the environmental footprint.
