The Pune Municipal Corporation will construct a new 1,150-metre-long and 24-metre-wide road from the Keshavnagar bridge to Mundhwa to ease traffic congestion in the Mundhwa-Magarpatta area. The project is estimated to cost Rs 930 million (Rs 930 mn) and is planned under a public-private partnership (PPP) to provide an alternative route for vehicles. City engineers say the link is intended to reduce bottlenecks at key junctions.

Hadapsar MLA Chetan Tupe had urged the corporation to build two roads, one from the Keshavnagar bridge to Mundhwa and the other near the Hadapsar railway station, to address worsening traffic. He argued that both roads are included in the city development plan and will create alternative links for travellers from Mundhwa, Keshavnagar and Magarpatta towards Sade Satranali, Amanora township, Malwadi and on to Manjari and Hadapsar. The proposal was presented as a measure to ease pressure on existing routes and provide a long term solution that should be prioritised.

The PMC city engineer, Annirudha Pawaskar, indicated that the new road would alleviate congestion at Mahatma Phule Chowk in Mundhwa, Shivaji Chowk in Keshavnagar and across the Magarpatta area by offering a direct corridor for through traffic. Officials plan to appoint expert consultants to manage pre and post tender activities, including preparing a detailed project report to expedite execution. The consultant will also prepare plans for a wider corridor extending from Kharadi to the Hadapsar railway station bridge.

The broader plan envisages a Kharadi stretch of seven point five kilometres, a 245-metre bridge across the Mula-Mutha river and a further three point five kilometre road near the Hadapsar railway station. These components are intended to integrate with the Keshavnagar-Mundhwa link to create continuous east-west connectivity and reduce travel times for commuters. The authority has framed the works as part of the city's infrastructure priorities for improving traffic flow.

Tendering will follow consultant recommendations and the PPP model is expected to shape financing and delivery modalities. Officials have set the project as a strategic intervention to manage growing vehicle volumes and to improve movement across Hadapsar and neighbouring precincts.
