Postal Channel Opens Export Incentives for MSMEs
The initiative is expected to significantly benefit MSMEs, artisans, start-ups and small exporters who rely on postal services for low- and medium-value international consignments. Combined with automated IGST refunds, the extension of incentives through the postal route is set to reduce costs, improve liquidity and enhance export competitiveness.
Exports through the postal network are facilitated via Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras, a joint initiative of the Department of Posts and CBIC. Currently, 1,013 such centres are operational nationwide, offering exporters end-to-end services including booking, digital documentation and customs clearance.
System upgrades, supported by standard operating procedures, have been implemented across postal and customs platforms, aligning the initiative with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 and the government’s ease of doing business agenda. With services such as the International Tracked Packet Service covering 135 countries, India Post continues to strengthen export access for small businesses and MSMEs.
