Brookfield Properties and the Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers recently welcomed over 11,000 runners to the annual Powai Run, reinforcing their shared commitment to community development and social impact.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of 20 pink auto-rickshaws sponsored by Brookfield Properties and the Rotary Club to support women’s empowerment through skill-based driving training. The initiative aims to promote financial independence for women drivers while enhancing safety and inclusion for female commuters.

Now in its 14th edition and marking the fifth year of collaboration with Brookfield Properties, proceeds from the run were channelled towards multiple charitable causes. These included life-saving heart surgeries, cancer care, girl child education, patient assistance programmes and wider community health and wellness initiatives.

The event was flagged off from Downtown Powai by senior leaders including Ankur Gupta, Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Head of Asia Pacific and Middle East, Real Estate, Brookfield; Eakta Menon, President, Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers; Danny Poljak, President and Co-Head of Real Estate, Brookfield Properties Australia; and Charu Thapar, Executive Vice President, Head of Operations and CRM, Brookfield Properties India.

Alongside the popular 4 km and 10 km races, the event featured special category runs such as the CEO Run for Brookfield Properties’ leadership and partners, and the IIT-B Run, which saw participation from over 1,000 students, faculty and alumni of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

The competitive 10 km races saw Kashish Malhotra, Ishita Malhi and Anupama Kamalam secure the top three positions in the women’s category, while Rochishnu Rawool, Salman Shaikh and Takashi Doi led the men’s race.

Additional highlights included the participation of Geeta Chauhan, captain of the Indian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team, and the completion of the 100th 10 km run by visually impaired runner Amarjeet Singh Chawla.
