Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti Takes Charge as NCBC Chairperson
Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti is a former Member of Parliament who has held several important public offices, including service as Union Minister of State in the Ministries of Rural Development and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. She has been actively engaged in social and community development activities aimed at the upliftment of weaker and marginalised sections of society. Her experience in public life and governance is expected to contribute significantly to the effective discharge of the Commission's mandate.
Kiran Umesh Mahalle is a seasoned public representative with extensive experience in social and organisational work and has served as Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Amravati. She has been involved in initiatives relating to women empowerment, social welfare and grassroots governance and has been associated with several cooperative and social institutions. Her practical experience at municipal level is expected to support the Commission's focus on inclusive development.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has extended a welcome to the Chairperson and Member and has expressed the expectation that their guidance will strengthen the mandate of the Commission towards the welfare, protection and socio-economic development of backward classes across the country. The Ministry noted that their dedication and prior administrative experience will be valuable in addressing policy implementation and outreach. The Commission will continue to monitor issues affecting disadvantaged communities and advise on measures to promote equity and social justice.
