SBI Partners With Bisleri To Boost Plastic Waste Management

State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a Letter of Association with Bisleri International Pvt Ltd (Bisleri) to strengthen plastic waste management across SBI branches and offices. Bisleri will train employees and housekeeping staff, collect used plastic from offices and send the material for recycling. The work builds on Bisleri's Bottles for Change initiative, which engages institutions and communities on responsible plastic handling.

The partnership aims to support India's transition to a circular economy and to contribute to national efforts to reach net zero emissions by 2070. SBI has set a target of Net Zero for Scope one, Scope two and Scope three emissions by 2055, its centenary year. The initiative seeks to embed segregation and recycling practices into workplace operations.

Ravi Ranjan, managing director (Risk, Compliance & SARG) at SBI, said the collaboration was intended to embed sustainable practices into everyday workplace culture and to empower employees to extend awareness into communities. He positioned sustainable development and climate conscious initiatives as key to India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047 and said partnerships can help translate policy into action. The approach links employee behaviour with facilities management and community engagement.

Dr Angelo George, chief executive officer at Bisleri, noted that responsible plastic waste management begins with awareness and collective action and that the partnership would combine the bank's reach with Bisleri's Bottles for Change experience to promote segregation, collection and recycling. The partners plan to engage employees across SBI offices to develop workplace practices that extend into homes and communities and to create a scalable model for corporate participation in a circular plastics economy. The initiative also reinforces SBI's commitment to responsible growth and environmental stewardship.
