SCR Records Highest Ever Ticket Checking Revenue
The revenue surge included a record single day collection of Rs 18.5 million (mn) on October 18, 2025, and was driven largely by penalties imposed for ticketless travel, irregular journeys and un-booked luggage and fines. Officials attributed the increase to strict enforcement measures and enhanced compliance among passengers. The zone reported that the collections were ahead of projections and contributed materially to overall passenger revenue.
Several digital ticketing initiatives were credited with improving sales and convenience, including the Rail One App, automatic ticket vending machines near booking counters and the display of QR codes at stations. These measures complemented intensified ticket checks by staff and streamlined the process for purchasing tickets. The combined effect of technology adoption and operational focus was said to have strengthened fare realisation across the network.
The SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava expressed appreciation for the staff and noted that robust ticket checking helps to deter violations while encouraging responsible travel and higher passenger revenue. The zone indicated that continued emphasis on digital platforms and vigilant enforcement will remain central to maintaining and increasing collections in the coming period. A press release set out the figures and plans.
