SECL Launches Special Campaign to Boost Cleanliness and Efficiency

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Miniratna subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has launched Special Campaign 5.0, an ambitious initiative to enhance cleanliness, efficiency, and waste management across its operational and administrative sites in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

As part of the campaign, SECL aims to clean and rejuvenate over 3.75 million sq. ft. of space across 203 identified locations, including offices, colonies, and mining areas. The drive is designed to promote sustainable housekeeping practices, improve workplace hygiene, and enhance the overall working environment.

Major Targets Under Special Campaign 5.0

Cleanliness and upkeep across 203 sites, covering approximately 3.75 million sq. ft.

Safe disposal of around 3,000 metric tonnes of scrap material.

Review of 2,000 physical files and 6,500 e-files.

Closure of 2,700 e-files after due verification.

Creation of ‘Best out of Waste’ artworks to promote creativity and circular economy practices within the organisation.

The campaign also emphasises greater digital integration and asset management, through systematic file reviews and the adoption of electronic documentation, aligning with the Government of India’s broader ‘Swachhata and Efficiency in Governance’ vision.

Last year, during Special Campaign 4.0, SECL surpassed all its targets, securing the top position among Coal India subsidiaries in multiple categories, including number of sites cleaned, space freed, and scrap disposed. The company also led in public outreach and communication, recording the highest number of social media posts and press releases, setting a national benchmark in campaign execution.
