SJVN Funds EVs For Waste Management In Shimla

SJVN, a Navratna CPSE, is advancing its green agenda through eco-friendly initiatives under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Director, Bhupender Gupta.
As part of Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada 2025, two Electric Solid Waste Management Vehicles were flagged off from Mall Road, Shimla in the presence of Harish Janartha, Hon’ble MLA (Urban), and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Operations), SJVN. The event also saw the participation of Bhupender Attri, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla, alongside officials of SJVN and MC Shimla.
Sharma announced that SJVN provided Rs 2.5 million in financial support to the Municipal Corporation of Shimla for the procurement of the two electric vehicles. He noted that their deployment will improve waste collection efficiency while eliminating emissions, thereby helping to reduce air pollution in the city.
The initiative forms part of the "Clean Green Festivities – Eco-friendly and Zero-waste" programme, one of the five core pillars of "Swachhotsav," the theme of this year’s Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign. It reinforces SJVN’s commitment to sustainable waste management, environmental stewardship and corporate responsibility.
The 9th edition of Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada, backed by the Swachh Bharat Mission, began on 17 September and will conclude on 2 October 2025. The 15-day campaign aims to encourage millions across India to actively contribute to the cleanliness drive.
