At the 52nd meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), held at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office on Tuesday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu approved the formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to steer major infrastructure projects across Capital Amaravati.

The SPV will take charge of designing, executing, and generating revenue from several landmark initiatives, including a greenfield airport, NTR statue, smart industries, iconic bridge, Sports City, riverfront development, ropeway, and the Inner Ring Road.

Naidu also proposed that the Bio Design Project be brought under the SPV’s remit, stating that experts from seven countries are ready to collaborate on the public health initiative.

Further expanding Amaravati’s urban blueprint, the Chief Minister announced plans for a Health City, mirroring the Sports City concept. The SPV will oversee both planning and operational phases of such projects.

The meeting also gave clearance to tenders for constructing 53.68 km of roads and footpaths linking the government building complex. Contractors will be tasked with maintaining the roads for seven years.

Urban design and architectural guidelines for Amaravati were also approved, with Naidu emphasising that each structure should enhance the capital’s visual appeal and serve as a tourism magnet.

Officials briefed the Chief Minister that several leading hotel chains have expressed interest in building convention centres in the capital region. Land has already been allotted to some, while others are seeking fresh allotments. Naidu approved this in principle, insisting that all upcoming facilities must align with global hospitality standards.

A PowerPoint presentation on the proposed iconic bridge was made during the session. Naidu directed that islands on the Krishna river be developed as tourist attractions, with connectivity and aesthetics in focus.

To support the growing project load, the Chief Minister also approved the appointment of additional CRDA staff on deputation and on-duty basis. He added that future land acquisition aligned with the master plan must be handled sensitively, with farmer consultation to avoid disruption.
