At a Cabinet meeting held in Miao under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh approved a series of policy measures spanning governance, media regulation, power development, and education. The meeting was conducted as part of the government’s “Aapke Dwar” outreach initiative to bring decision-making closer to citizens.

Among the key decisions, the Cabinet approved the formation of two joint venture companies — NHPC Arunachal Green Energy Limited and NEEPCO Arunachal Hydro Power Corporation Limited — to advance the state’s hydropower sector. These ventures will undertake major projects including Kamala (1,720 MW), Subansiri Upper (1,605 MW), Tato I and II, Heo, Naying, and Hirong. The initiatives align with the state’s vision for a “Decade of Hydro Power (2025–2035)”, targeting 19 GW of installed capacity.

The Cabinet also endorsed the Arunachal Pradesh Print and Digital Media Advertisement Policy, 2025, consolidating earlier rules and designating the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) as the nodal agency. Additionally, the Recruitment Rules, 2025 for the post of Director (Information & Public Relations) were approved, replacing the earlier 1981 regulations.

Further, amendments to the Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1997, and the Prohibition of Defection Act were sanctioned. The revisions expand Gram Panchayats’ responsibilities in areas such as sanitation, water source management, and encroachment prevention, while also introducing electronic voting machines (EVMs) in Panchayat elections and strengthening accountability provisions.

In the education sector, the Cabinet granted in-principle approval for establishing a Special School for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) to provide focused education and therapeutic support. It also approved revisions to the Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Service (APAS) Rules, 2005, enabling recruitment for 42 vacant posts and rationalising promotion structures.

Additionally, the Cabinet agreed to provide a monthly pension of Rs 60,000 to former MLAs and Council members in recognition of their public service, and endorsed reforms to strengthen the Prosecutor’s Office, Forensic Science Directorate, and Public Works administration.
