The Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar (SCBAPP) is a national honour instituted by the Government of India and administered by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It is announced every year on 23rd January, the birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose, to recognise and acknowledge exceptional contributions in the field of disaster management. The award seeks to spotlight work that strengthens prevention, preparedness, response and recovery capacities across the country.

The prize recognises contributions across prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction, research and innovation, as well as early warning systems, community awareness and capacity building. It aims to encourage innovative approaches and promote replication of best practices that reduce risk and enhance resilience. By celebrating demonstrable models and interventions the award intends to motivate wider engagement from public and private actors.

Two categories have been established, one for individuals and one for institutions, with the individual award comprising a scroll and a medal and the institution award comprising a scroll and a plaque. Eligible nominees include individuals, organisations, national and state level entities, district authorities, research and academic institutions, non governmental organisations and private sector organisations. Both Indian citizens and institutions are eligible to apply or be nominated.

Nominations are accepted throughout the year and must be submitted online through the National Awards Portal. Both self nomination and third party nomination are permitted and applicants are expected to provide supporting documentation and evidence of impact. The online process is intended to ensure transparency and accessibility for prospective nominees across the country.

The award is presented to underscore the importance of systematic disaster risk reduction and to inspire diverse stakeholders to integrate resilience into planning and operations. The MHA encourages interested parties to review procedural details on the portal and to prepare nominations that demonstrate measurable outcomes and community benefit.
