Sumadhura Enters Chennai With 52 Acre Logistics Park
The company said the project is backed by an investment of Rs 4 billion (Rs 4 bn) and will offer 1.2 million sq ft of warehousing space (1.2 mn sq ft).
The park will be developed to the group's Grade A warehousing standards and is planned to include robust safety and security infrastructure, common business centres, amenities and sustainable design.
It is intended to serve manufacturing, automotive, e-commerce and third party logistics operators, as well as other sectors.
Sumadhura's existing warehousing footprint in Bengaluru includes Sumadhura Logistics Park in Hoskote, a 2.5 mn sq ft facility that hosts several national and international occupiers.
The expansion follows the company's assessment that Chennai is a leading Grade A industrial and warehousing market.
The city recorded 4.1 mn sq ft of Grade A absorption in H1 2026, with demand rising 11 per cent year on year; together with Delhi NCR it accounted for more than 45 per cent of Grade A leasing in the period.
The Red Hills site was chosen for its connectivity to major highways, Chennai International Airport, the central business district and regional supply chain networks, and for proximity to Ennore, Kattupalli and Chennai ports.
Company leadership said Chennai's manufacturing base and port links, and emerging hubs such as Red Hills, Sriperumbudur and Oragadam, made the city a priority market and underscored the group's commitment to Grade A infrastructure.
Executives indicated the group would prioritise strategic location, construction quality and sustainability.
A senior director added that occupier preference for Grade A space and larger formats would shape future warehousing demand nationally.
