Symplast Group To Invest Rs700 Million In Yamuna Region

Symplast Group, an Italy-based global company, will invest Rs700 million (mn) to establish a manufacturing unit for advanced plastics and rotational moulding products in the Yamuna region of Uttar Pradesh. The project will be located in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region and the authority issued a letter of intent for allocation of three acres of land. YEIDA's chief executive handed over the letter to company representatives, formalising the allocation and enabling the group to proceed with site development and approvals.

The total investment includes 50 per cent foreign direct investment and is expected to increase foreign capital inflows into the state while contributing to export capacity and foreign exchange earnings. The initiative will be presented as strengthening India–Italy industrial cooperation and is intended to support the development of the Yamuna region as a global manufacturing hub. The project aligns with the Make in India strategy and aims to produce for domestic and international markets.

The company anticipates creating direct employment opportunities for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers and significant indirect employment through suppliers, logistics, transportation and local businesses. The establishment of modern production systems will be accompanied by training of the local workforce to international standards, which is intended to raise skills in ancillary industries and micro, small and medium enterprises. Adoption of European manufacturing technology and compliance with international quality control standards are expected to boost competitiveness across supply chains.

This is expected to strengthen the regional industrial ecosystem and to boost ancillary industries, MSME units and local supply networks. YEIDA is positioned to provide land allotment and regulatory facilitation that will help the project establish operations and integrate with nearby industrial clusters. The decision by a European manufacturer to set up a specialised unit in Uttar Pradesh reflects ongoing efforts by state authorities to attract global firms and expand manufacturing capacity.
