TEC, IIT-Hyderabad Partner to Boost 6G and Telecom Standards
The partnership focuses on developing India-specific standards and test frameworks for next-generation networks, including 6G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs). It also aims to enhance India’s participation in international standardisation forums such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
Key collaboration areas include mobile communication technologies (4G, 5G, NB-IoT), Open RAN, network disaggregation, 6G architecture, NTN integration, and studies on Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) compliance.
The MoU was signed by Amit Kumar Srivastava, DDG (Mobile Technologies), TEC, and Prof. B. S. Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
This partnership will strengthen indigenous research and manufacturing in the telecom sector, supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by developing home-grown standards and solutions that enhance national self-reliance and reduce import dependency.
