Terra Motors Expands EV Range

Terra Motors, a Japanese electric vehicle manufacturer, has expanded its product range in India with the launch of a new electric auto-rickshaw, the KYORO+. This strategic move aims to strengthen its foothold in the L5 electric three-wheeler segment, building on its existing presence in the electric rickshaw (L3) market, where it has already sold over 150,000 units.

Go Suzuki, Managing Director of Terra Motors India, stated the company's ambition to secure approximately 5-8 per cent of the L5 segment, which sees annual sales of around 150,000 to 160,000 units. The company plans to establish 100 dealerships nationwide and significantly increase its production capacity for electric auto-rickshaws to about 5,000 units per month. Currently, its Manesar plant has an annual manufacturing capacity of 5,000-10,000 L5 units and produces around 3,000 electric rickshaws.

Toru Tokushige, Founder and CEO of Terra Motors, reiterated India's importance as a key market for the company, emphasising their commitment to leading the electric mobility sector through continuous innovation. Terra Motors also operates Terra Charge, a dedicated electric vehicle charging infrastructure division in India.
