TRAI Releases Network Quality Findings Across Delhi

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released its Independent Drive Test results for the Delhi Licensed Service Area, based on extensive assessments carried out in July 2025. The exercise covered nearly 859 km of city routes, 21 hotspot locations, 250 km of metro corridors and dedicated walk tests to evaluate real-world performance across 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks.

Key parameters such as call setup success rate, drop call rate, call setup time, voice quality and data throughput were measured for Airtel, MTNL, RJIL and VIL. Airtel, RJIL and VIL recorded call setup success rates of around 99 per cent, while MTNL continued to register significantly lower performance. Data speeds varied widely, with Airtel achieving the highest average download rate at over 173 Mbps, followed by VIL and RJIL. MTNL reported lower throughput due to limited 3G and 2G operations.

The tests also assessed performance in high-density zones, public transport hubs, institutions and major market clusters across Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad. Additionally, a repeat drive test for RJIL in late September 2025 covered more than 834 km of city routes, indicating a call setup success rate of 99.56 per cent and average download speed of over 152 Mbps.

TRAI has shared findings with all service providers to support network improvements and enhance user experience across the region.
