Tripura Signs MoU With NSE To Boost Financial Inclusion

Tripura has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) to boost financial inclusion, foster micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) growth and raise investor awareness across the state. The agreement was described by the chief minister Dr Manik Saha as a strategic step to link local entrepreneurs with formal capital markets and financial services. It will seek to introduce investor education initiatives and facility for MSME capacity building.

The MoU outlines collaborative programmes including financial literacy camps, training modules for business development and facilitation of access to listing and funding opportunities. Officials said the NSE will work with state departments to establish investor awareness centres and provide support for demat account creation and online trading familiarisation. The partnership aims to simplify market access for entrepreneurs and to improve the overall investment ecosystem.

State agencies will identify priority sectors and MSMEs that can be integrated into value chains with support from technical sessions and mentorship. The scheme is expected to encourage product standardisation, better corporate governance and improved financial record keeping among small firms. There will also be efforts to promote participation of marginalised communities in formal financial systems.

The arrangement emphasises capacity building for local officials and workshops for potential investors to demystify market processes and regulatory requirements. Authorities intend to monitor progress through periodic reviews and joint working groups to ensure that initiatives translate into measurable outcomes. The initiative is positioned as part of a broader strategy to stimulate employment and investment in the region.

Observers noted that linking grassroots enterprises with capital market infrastructure can open new avenues for growth and credit access without imposing immediate fiscal burdens on the state. Officials indicated that the collaboration would be rolled out in phases with outreach to rural districts and urban centres alike. The state will seek to measure impact through increased MSME registrations, investor participation and improved financial inclusion indicators.
