TVS Commits Rs 1 Bn for NTorq 150 Launch Ahead of Festive Season

TVS Motor Company has invested nearly Rs 1 billion in launching the NTorq 150 Hyper Sport Scooter, aiming to capitalise on festive-season demand and strengthen its presence in the fast-growing premium scooter segment.

Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice-President and Head of Commuter and EV Business, told Business Standard that the company’s strategy combines strong product investment with a responsive dealer network. “With the NTorq 150, we are doubling down on premium scooters backed by strong investment and a responsive dealer network to convert festive-season demand into measurable growth, even amid market shifts like the GST changes,” he said.

Designed with contemporary styling and aerodynamics, the NTorq 150 is aimed at young, style-conscious consumers. The model features a 149.7 cc air-cooled engine, accelerating from 0–60 km/h in 6.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 104 km/h, making it one of the fastest scooters in its category.

TVS is consolidating its position in the sport scooter market, which is outpacing overall two-wheeler growth. The NTorq 150 launch follows recent refreshes such as the TVS Orbiter, contributing to what Haldar described as the “freshest portfolio across all segments.”

Despite market volatility, TVS has maintained steady growth, supported by operational agility across its 1,400 primary dealerships and 4,000 secondary outlets. Haldar said, “Our ability to pivot quickly and respond to market changes has been key to sustaining growth.”

The recent GST rate cut is expected to further encourage buyers during the festive season, although dealers have expressed concerns over pre-GST inventory. Haldar acknowledged the issue but remained optimistic. “The benefits will flow across stakeholders, and the market fundamentals remain strong,” he noted.
