TVS Motor Company is establishing its Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Design and Engineering in Bologna, Italy, and as part of the initiative will acquire automotive design firm Engines Engineering S.p.A. for €5 million.
The CoE aligns with TVS Motor’s long-term vision of delivering premium, future-ready mobility solutions for global markets. It is expected to shorten product development cycles, improve design flexibility, and strengthen the company’s premium portfolio, including high-displacement motorcycles, advanced scooters and new electric mobility platforms. The move will also bolster Norton’s high-performance motorcycle pipeline, reinforcing its position as a modern luxury brand.
This marks the company’s first major acquisition since Sudarshan Venu took charge on 25 August. Venu, credited with transforming TVS into India’s largest two-wheeler EV player within five years of launching the TVS iQube, also spearheaded the 2020 acquisition of Norton Motorcycles. Norton is set to unveil several new models at EICMA 2025 in Milan.
TVS’s global expansion continues, with exports rising 22.8 per cent in FY25 to 1.09 million units, driven by strong sales in Africa and Latin America. Engines Engineering, renowned for prototyping, high-performance motorcycle innovation and MotoGP experience, will integrate with TVS’s global R&D to accelerate concept-to-product innovation and strengthen Norton’s capabilities.
Sudarshan Venu, Chairman of TVS Motor, said: “The new Italian Global Centre of Excellence is another milestone in reimagining mobility. By combining Engines Engineering’s creativity and racing expertise with our strengths, we will deliver premium, connected and electric vehicles that set new benchmarks. This CoE also enhances Norton’s craft of exceptional high-performance motorcycles, honouring its legacy while elevating its future ambitions.”
Key focus areas include digital simulation, rapid prototyping, modular platforms, AI-driven design tools, advanced materials and sustainability-focused integration, with an emphasis on attracting global talent.:
