UIDAI Teams With Google To Map Authorised Aadhaar Centres
The service will indicate the nature of services offered at each centre, including adult enrolment, child enrolment and address and mobile update only outlets, allowing people to identify the facility most suited to their needs. Information on accessibility features such as divyang-friendly infrastructure and parking availability will be included where applicable. Operating hours and basic contact information will also be displayed to assist planning.
UIDAI indicated that the facility is expected to be available in the coming months and that the collaboration aims to combat misinformation while enhancing public convenience. The scheme is intended to provide seamless access to over 60,000 Aadhaar centres nationwide, including state-of-the-art Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs). When users search on Google Maps they will be routed to verified centres so that reliance on unverified information is reduced.
In a subsequent phase UIDAI will use Google Business Profile to manage centre information and to respond to people's feedback, with a view to maintaining a transparent and responsive service ecosystem. The partnership will explore options for direct appointment booking through the Google Maps interface to allow residents to plan visits with greater efficiency. UIDAI said the move is part of a continued focus on improving ease of living for Aadhaar number holders and Google India described the integration as a way to help millions of residents find trusted services.
