UP Cabinet Approves Revamp of 49 Bus Stations And Industrial Push
The government aims to transform the bus stations into airport-like hubs with modern passenger amenities such as improved waiting areas, sanitation and VIP lounges, with officials noting that about 55 per cent of the area will be reserved for public use and the remainder for commercial activities. The revised policy reduces technical eligibility requirements and extends timelines to ease investor participation.
The lease period has been fixed at either 35 or 90 years, after which ownership will revert to UPSRTC, and the second phase expands coverage to 52 districts with remaining districts to be included later, officials added. The Cabinet cleared proposals under the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy 2022 on the recommendation of the High-Level Empowered Committee.
Approvals included letters of comfort, capital subsidies and project modifications for industrial units, with support for OFC Tech Pvt Ltd amounting to Rs 5.89 bn in SGST reimbursement and for AJJ Cane Industries at Rs 11.28 bn, and capital subsidy approvals for India Glycols Ltd, Viscose International and Integrated Batteries India Pvt Ltd. A Rs 160 bn Avaada Electro project in Gautam Buddh Nagar received modifications to aid implementation.
The Cabinet approved green energy investments in solar cell and module manufacturing to develop the Yamuna Expressway and Greater Noida regions, and cleared a bid document for procurement of 2.5 million (2.5 mn) tablets with a budget of Rs 20 bn for 2026-27. Land ownership rights were granted to families displaced at Partition and 99 families will be rehabilitated in Kanpur Dehat at a nominal lease rent of Rs one. Ministers said 22 proposals were cleared and a Forestry and Horticulture University in Gorakhpur was approved.
