Uttar Pradesh Boosts MSMEs With E-Commerce Partnerships
The Government of Uttar Pradesh has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Walmart under the Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Programme to integrate MSMEs into national and global value chains. The initiative aims to expand market access and improve capabilities across packaging, quality standards, certifications and logistics.
Alok Kumar, additional chief secretary for infrastructure and industrial development, MSME and export promotion, said MSMEs form the backbone of the state’s economy and that such partnerships would unlock new growth opportunities and enhance global competitiveness.
The government has also on-boarded other platforms under various programmes, including the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme. Flipkart has partnered with the state to promote ODOP offerings such as Khadi, leather goods, carpets, agricultural products and pottery, while training micro-entrepreneurs, start-ups, artisans and women self-help groups to scale via digital marketplaces.
The Uttar Pradesh Export Promotion Policy 2025–30 places strong emphasis on e-commerce-led exports, offering first-time exporters a one-time incentive covering 75 per cent of platform listing fees, capped at Rs 0.3 million. The measure is designed to lower entry barriers and enable faster access to global markets.
Uttar Pradesh aims to reach $50 billion in goods and services exports by 2030, up from $21 billion in 2024. The MSME sector contributes around 60 per cent of the state’s annual industrial output and is central to advancing the ‘Make in UP’ vision.
