Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Simon Wong, the High Commissioner of Singapore to India, at his official residence in Lucknow on Thursday. The two exchanged views on enhancing collaboration between Uttar Pradesh and Singapore in areas such as investment, urban development, infrastructure and skill advancement, with the aim of strengthening a shared vision for sustainable growth and development. The chief minister described the meeting as wonderful in a statement posted on X and expressed interest in deepening ties across multiple sectors.

Earlier in the week the chief minister inaugurated 250 electric and CNG vehicles powered by green energy to improve waste management in Lucknow, operated by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. He highlighted the city’s development over the past nine years and noted improvements in living standards, infrastructure and public safety, including the commencement of metro operations. The government reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development and the wider integration of solar energy across the state, noting that Ayodhya has been developed as a solar city and plans are under way to equip Lucknow on similar lines.

The administration emphasised urban safety measures through the implementation of Smart City technologies and extensive LED lighting, which officials said had transformed local security and visibility after dark. The chief minister contrasted current efforts with previous approaches and said LED street lights had been installed in every municipal council to deter crime. Officials further stated that 18 municipal bodies have been integrated with the Integrated Command and Control Center through closed circuit television networks to strengthen monitoring and response.

The state announced plans to convert its city bus service into an electric bus service as part of a broader push towards clean transport and reduced emissions. Authorities indicated that the combination of green fleets, solar deployment and enhanced urban governance would support investment attraction and skill development tied to Singapore collaborations. The government signalled an intent to continue delivering infrastructure and civic improvements to encourage investment and improve quality of life for residents.
