Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 17 schemes worth Rs 368.3 million (mn) in Champawat district, aimed at strengthening public welfare and infrastructure. The package comprised four inaugurated schemes costing Rs 71.2 million and 13 foundation projects valued at Rs 297.1 million. The measures were presented as part of efforts to ensure development reaches the last mile in the district. Officials described the initiatives as steps to rapidly establish Champawat as a Model District.

Dhami also formally unveiled a 100-foot-high national flag installed at Gandhi Chowk and framed the tricolour as a symbol of unity, integrity and sovereignty that inspires public service and future generations. He linked the programmes to the broader development agenda under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and characterised the Model District vision as a significant local priority. The event included ceremonial recognition of soldiers, war widows and environmental workers.

The administration reported that construction of the Goljyu Corridor is under way at a cost of about Rs 1.17 billion (bn), and that healthcare facilities are being strengthened with a 50-bed critical care unit at the district hospital at Rs 200 million and CT and MRI facilities worth Rs 50 million. The Science Centre, being built for Rs 570 million, was described as an initiative to connect children with contemporary knowledge in the age of artificial intelligence and prepare them for global competition. The Sharda Corridor was presented as a means to boost tourism and create self-employment opportunities. Project implementation and service delivery were emphasised as priorities.

The state is constructing the first Women's Sports College in Lohaghat at a cost of Rs 2.57 bn and developing a dry port near the India-Nepal border, while an old-age home for senior citizens is under construction for Rs 89.9 million. Officials signalled that these investments are intended to expand local economic activity and reduce the need for residents to travel for specialised treatment. The government reiterated its commitment to implementing development schemes on the ground.
