Vedanta Aluminium has recently been recognised among the Top 10 per cent of global companies in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, supported by a Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score of 84 out of 100. The recognition marks the company’s first entry into the Top 10 per cent category within the global aluminium industry.

The Sustainability Yearbook evaluates companies based on S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which benchmarks performance across environmental, social and governance (ESG) parameters such as climate action, transparency, risk management and responsible business practices. In the latest cycle, more than 9,200 companies across 59 industries were assessed, with only 848 qualifying as Yearbook members.

Vedanta Aluminium has been advancing its sustainability agenda through multiple initiatives across climate action, resource efficiency and circular manufacturing. The company has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 8.96 per cent since FY21, bringing emissions to 17.01 tCO₂e per tonne of aluminium while continuing to expand production.

The company also reported renewable energy consumption of 1.57 billion units in FY25 and aims to scale renewable capacity to 1,500 MW by 2030 as part of its long-term pathway to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 or earlier. Additional sustainability initiatives include 100 per cent fly ash utilisation, water recycling systems and large-scale waste reuse programmes.

Vedanta Aluminium also continues to invest in biodiversity restoration, circular economy solutions for bauxite residue and community development programmes impacting over 1.75 million women and children across Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The company produces more than half of India’s aluminium output, with 2.42 million tonnes produced in FY25.
