Vedanta Aluminium has marked International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development by rolling out its largest employee-driven community outreach effort to date. The company mobilised 1,800 employees across Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, collectively dedicating 4,000 hours of service that touched more than seven lakh people. The initiative reinforces the organisation’s long-standing philosophy of ‘Transforming Communities’, encouraging a culture where voluntary participation becomes central to its social approach.

Employees stepped out of their regular roles to lead programmes in healthcare, education, skill development, environment and women’s empowerment. Activities ranged from plantation and waterbody rejuvenation drives to literacy sessions, livelihood workshops, health check-up camps and blood donation events. The scale of involvement, according to the company, demonstrates how employee-led action can significantly amplify social outcomes.

Several initiatives have already yielded notable progress. In Odisha, grassroots sports programmes have supported young archers advancing to national competitions, while traditional Saura and Dokra art have been revived through market-linked opportunities for artisans. Women in Korba, Chhattisgarh, trained through livelihood projects, have displayed their products at major exhibitions, converting local skills into sustainable income. Large health camps across both States have bolstered access to preventive care for thousands. In Visakhapatnam, digital learning tools and lab infrastructure are helping students build future-ready capabilities.

Through ongoing volunteer engagement, Vedanta Aluminium continues to strengthen local ecosystems and drive inclusive growth across its operational regions.
