The Zaheerabad Industrial Area (ZIA) is set to be developed as a priority node under the Hyderabad–Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC) at an estimated cost of Rs 23.6 billion.

The Union government has approved its contribution via the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), comprising Rs 5.96 billion in equity and Rs 6.55 billion as debt, according to Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada. He was responding to a question raised by Member of Parliament Kadiyam Kavya.

Located in the Sangareddy district, the HNIC node spans an activation area of 3,245 acres. A dedicated special purpose vehicle, NICDIT Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City, has been set up for the project, and the tendering process for selecting the Project Management for New Cities (PMNC) has commenced.

Responding to further queries from Dr Kavya regarding the Hyderabad–Nagpur and Hyderabad–Warangal industrial corridors, the Minister stated that in August 2024, the Centre had given approval to the Telangana government’s proposal for the Zaheerabad node under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).

As for the Hyderabad–Warangal Industrial Corridor (HWIC), Hyderabad Pharma City was initially identified for development. However, due to the State government's failure to confirm the project, the NICDIT Board of Trustees decided on 8 June 2022 to withdraw it.

Mr Prasada also noted that the Centre had granted final approval for two National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs) in the region: one in Sangareddy (formerly Medak) on 22 January 2016, and another in Hyderabad Pharma City, Rangareddy district, on 10 December 2019.
