Zelio E-Mobility Commissions Cuttack Plant To Boost Eastern Presence

Zelio E-Mobility Limited has commissioned a manufacturing facility in Cuttack, Odisha, to strengthen its presence in eastern India. The commissioning increases total production capacity from 72,000 to 180,000 units per annum, with the Hisar facility upgraded to 120,000 and the new plant contributing 60,000 units per annum. The move responds to strong demand and customer acceptance in Odisha and West Bengal.

The Odisha plant is expected to reduce delivery timelines, lower logistics costs, improve supply chain efficiency and strengthen dealer support across eastern and southern India. The Hisar enhancement was achieved through process-level optimisation, extended conveyors and additional machinery, while the Cuttack facility is operational and will support faster deliveries and improved after-sales responsiveness. The regional hub should enable stronger inventory support and quicker product availability for dealers.

Investment in the Odisha facility is reported to be under Rs 30 million (mn), and the company said the plant will contribute to revenue immediately. The company reported consolidated revenue of Rs 1.3478 billion (bn) in the first half of the fiscal year and net profit of Rs 118.7 million (mn). Earlier in the year the company completed an SME public offering of Rs 783.4 million (mn), with about Rs 360 million (mn) of unutilised proceeds earmarked for capacity expansion.

The Cuttack plant is expected to generate employment for about 60 to 100 individuals in production and operational roles, reinforcing the company's commitment to regional economic development. Discussions with the Odisha government on potential incentives and support programmes are ongoing as the plant initially focuses on electric two-wheelers. The managing director said that eastern India had emerged as a key growth region and that the new plant would enable faster deliveries, lower logistics costs and improved serviceability while aiding expansion into Tier two and Tier three cities.
