Zuari SPE Division Records Highest-Ever Sugarcane Crushing

The SPE Division of Zuari Industries Limited (ZIL) registered its highest-ever sugarcane crushing in fiscal year FY26, processing 15.97 mn quintals, up from 15.72 mn quintals in FY25. The performance surpassed the previous record and reflected an early start to the crushing cycle alongside improved operational efficiency. Higher capacity utilisation and greater cane availability across catchment areas were cited as key contributors to the increase. The milestone underlines a step change in seasonal throughput for the unit.

The managing director attributed the result to sustained improvements in operations and to greater discipline across the SPE Division, noting that the focus would remain on maintaining and strengthening execution. The executive director and unit head highlighted stronger engagement with growers and enhancements in field practices as catalysts for better yields. Support measures included agronomy guidance and the promotion of improved varietal adoption to bolster supply visibility. Operational planning at the mills was tightened to sustain efficient throughput.

Operational metrics benefited from higher capacity utilisation and from more coordinated mill scheduling, which reduced downtime and optimised crushing runs. The division plans to extend its crushing operations into April, giving the unit a head start for FY27 and potentially improving annualised output. This operational outlook sets a new benchmark for seasonality management and reinforces the company’s emphasis on executional discipline. Continued farmer outreach and supply chain alignment are expected to underpin future seasons.
