Rustomjee Group has partnered with the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport to support the Kawale Check Dam project in Vikramgad Taluka, Palghar district, Maharashtra. The initiative is expected to enhance water security, improve agricultural productivity and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for nearly 1,800 farming families across 18 villages.

Located in Maharashtra's tribal belt, the project has been conceived as a long-term solution to address recurring water scarcity despite seasonal rainfall. The check dam is designed to capture and conserve rainwater, storing water for nearly two kilometres upstream while facilitating groundwater recharge and improving year-round access to water.

With an investment of approximately Rs 7.06 million, the initiative has been implemented through collaboration between development stakeholders, local communities and institutional partners. The project also emphasises community participation to promote local ownership and ensure long-term sustainability.
