India Russia Round Table Strengthens Steel Cooperation

The India-Russia Round Table convened at the Ministry of Steel, Government of India (Ministry of Steel) and was co-chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Steel and Mr Mikhail IURIN, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (Russia). The meeting brought together a Russian delegation and Indian counterparts to pursue enhanced collaboration in the steel sector. It provided an official platform for exchange of views and for setting priorities for bilateral engagement. The agenda aimed to identify priority areas and practical steps for bilateral cooperation.

Participants addressed a range of technical and commercial matters, including raw material sourcing, technological collaboration, equipment manufacturing and research opportunities. Delegates outlined existing projects and capacities and discussed how shared initiatives could support industrial modernisation and supply chain resilience. The discussion covered practical measures to facilitate cooperation between enterprises and research institutions and identified potential areas for technology transfer and joint development.

The meeting also served to align priorities for future interactions and to map out steps for follow up at working group and expert levels.

Participants expressed intent to continue engagement and to further strengthen cooperation across the steel value chain.
