Ramsarup Industries to Launch New Blast Furnace and Sinter Plant

Mumbai, 3 November 2025: Ramsarup Industries (RIL), part of Shyam Metalics, is set to commission a modern Blast Furnace and Linear Sinter Plant as part of its Rs 3.69 billion expansion plan to enhance steel production capacity and operational efficiency.

The Modern Blast Furnace, with a capacity of 0.45 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), has begun stove heating and will start commercial production by the end of November 2025. The Linear Sinter Plant will also be commissioned later this month, with commercial operations beginning in the third week of November.

The new 350 m³ Blast Furnace is equipped with three top-fired stoves, modern coal injection technology, and a dry gas cleaning plant, ensuring a cleaner and more efficient steel-making process. It features advanced energy recovery systems, including a 2.5 MW Top Gas Pressure Recovery Turbine (TRT) and 8 MW recovery through the BFG Boiler, delivering 10 per cent additional energy recovery. An evaporative cooling system further reduces water and power use by 20 per cent, and the zero process water discharge design enhances sustainability.

The Linear Sinter Plant will convert iron ore fines into feedstock for the Blast Furnace, improving cost efficiency and operational performance. Together, these facilities strengthen RIL’s ability to produce high-quality Alloy, Carbon, and Special Steel through advanced EAF, LRF, and VD processes.

“The commissioning of our Modern Blast Furnace and Linear Sinter Plant is a proud milestone,” said Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Shyam Metalics & Energy. “This upgrade increases our capacity, integrates energy-efficient technology, and underscores our commitment to sustainable growth and industrial excellence.”

This brownfield expansion highlights Ramsarup Industries’ focus on technological advancement, using high top pressure (1.3 bar) and high-temperature hot blast (1250°C) systems to achieve greater efficiency and lower energy costs. The initiative reinforces the company’s vision of building a sustainable, competitive, and future-ready steel business contributing to India’s industrial growth.
