Rathi Steel Gains GreenPro Certification For Sustainable TMT Rebars

Rathi Steel and Power Limited (RSPL) has been awarded the GreenPro ecolabel certification by the Confederation of Indian Industry for its Rathi Powertech brand of TMT rebars manufactured at its Ghaziabad unit. The Type?one ecolabel covers the Fe 550 grade of thermomechanically treated rebars produced at the company’s state?of?the?art Ghaziabad facility and reaffirms RSPL's commitment to sustainable manufacturing and environmental stewardship. The certification positions the product within recognised green procurement criteria and supports broader efforts to reduce the carbon intensity of construction materials.

The certified rebars are eligible for credits under national and international green building certification systems such as LEED and IGBC, and the company said the approval helps ensure a non?toxic environment for end users. The certification also provides assurance to structural designers about material quality and durability, which the company suggested would streamline due diligence, improve cost effectiveness and accelerate construction timelines. RSPL added that alignment with GreenPro standards delivers value to stakeholders by meeting evolving regulatory and market expectations.

RSPL noted ongoing investments in environmentally friendly practices including recycling?based steel making and renewable energy integration through open access power purchase. The company operates an integrated facility across about 12.5 acres in the National Capital Region with a steel melting capacity of 85,000 tonne (t) per annum and a rolling capacity of 200,000 t per annum. Financially, RSPL reported revenues of Rs 5.0543 billion (bn) for fiscal 2025, an EBITDA of Rs 243.1 million (mn) and a profit after tax of Rs 139.5 mn; revenue for fiscal 2026 exceeded Rs 7.15 bn.

The promoter said achieving the GreenPro certification validated the firm’s commitment to sustainability and that continuous investment in facility upgrades underpins its environmental responsibilities. Established in 1971, RSPL described itself as a leading manufacturer of stainless steel and mild steel long products whose Rathi?branded materials have been used in marquee infrastructure works across northern states. The company said the certification will strengthen its sustainability credentials and support customers seeking compliance with green building standards.
