Vitero Tiles Opens Morbi Manufacturing Plant
The Morbi plant has a total manufacturing capacity of 7.2 million (mn) square metres per annum and is expected to supply nearly 40 per cent of Vitero Tiles’ overall production, substantially enlarging the group’s regional supply capabilities. The facility will produce the complete portfolio including vitrified tiles and full body tiles under one roof, and when combined with an existing plant at Kakinada the firm’s annual output reaches about 18 mn square metres per annum.
Industry data cited in the release described India as the world’s second largest producer, consumer and exporter of ceramic tiles after China, accounting for approximately 11–15 per cent of global production and around 10.9 per cent of global consumption. The domestic tiles market was reported at Rs 531 billion (bn) in FY25, having grown from Rs 360 billion in FY19 at a compound annual growth rate of 6.7 per cent and projected to reach Rs 769 billion by FY29 at a 9.7 per cent CAGR.
Company executives conveyed that the Morbi unit will improve logistical reach to northern, eastern and western markets and complement the southern manufacturing base, enhancing distribution efficiency and responsiveness to demand. They added that vertical integration through captive raw material sources and advanced processing will support quality control and product innovation as the brand seeks to scale domestically and explore international opportunities.
