ABB Powers Noida International Airport Systems

ABB has deployed an advanced power distribution and water management automation solution at Noida International Airport (NIA), Uttar Pradesh, which is set to enhance regional connectivity and reduce congestion in Delhi.
Designed to handle 12 million passengers annually in its initial phase, the airport requires reliable, energy-efficient and future-ready systems to support terminal operations, airfield services, baggage handling, ventilation and safety infrastructure. Operations will begin with a single runway, with international services to follow, while long-term expansion targets capacity of up to 70 million passengers annually.
ABB’s solution includes its 33kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) ZX2 for secure power distribution from the main substation, along with low-voltage panels and distribution boards to ensure uninterrupted 415V supply across critical systems.
Additionally, ABB’s AC500 PLC and SCADA-based automation systems will manage water and wastewater treatment, enabling remote monitoring, leak detection and real-time control. These systems will support water recycling, reduce freshwater usage and ensure consistent water quality across the airport.
The integrated solution is designed to improve operational reliability, minimise downtime risks and support sustainable infrastructure development at one of India’s newest aviation hubs.
