Adani Airports Eyes Pre-Booked Security Slots for Passengers

Air travellers in India who can currently pre-book lounge seats may soon be able to pre-book a slot at security checks at Adani group-run airports.
This initiative is part of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd’s (AAHL) digital roadmap, designed to enhance passenger engagement, optimise operations, and increase revenue across the group’s eight airports.
In September 2024, AAHL launched aviio, a platform providing data insights to all airport stakeholders, including airlines, the Central Industrial Security Force, and immigration authorities. The system helps manage disruptions such as gate changes and operational issues more efficiently.
“We are deploying video analytics and data analytics on kerbside areas and inside terminals to manage queues,” said AAHL’s Chief Digital Officer, Ekta Ghosh.
Tokenisation trials are underway, and AAHL will share real-time data with airlines and stakeholders to reduce congestion. Other projects include bag-drop facilities for Digital Yatra-enabled passengers and improved aircraft turnaround systems.
These digital measures are increasingly critical as passengers become more digitally savvy and air traffic grows faster than airport capacity. Investments in technology allow airports to maximise operational efficiency and optimise existing assets.
AAHL also plans a single, consolidated customer contact centre for all eight airports, including the soon-to-open Navi Mumbai airport. The centre, available in multiple Indian and foreign languages, is expected to be operational within six months and will integrate social media platforms for efficient grievance redressal.
Navi Mumbai airport, set to open on 30 September, will implement fully digital processes from day one. Documents such as airport entry passes and driving permits will be accessible via an app for airport staff.
Additionally, AAHL has developed the “Airport in a Box” model, featuring a harmonised tech stack and plug-and-play systems. This initiative future-proofs infrastructure, enabling seamless capacity expansions and the onboarding of new airports while maintaining fully digital operations.
